I have a Visa check card. Can I rent a car with it?

Unfortunately, the commercials on television have made people believe that a Visa check card works exactly the same as a regular credit card. This is simply not the case. Once again, the "bad people" of the world have messed up a good thing by figuring out how to manipulate the system so that they end up leaving outstanding balances at the end of the rental. Because of this, many car rental companies no longer accept Visa check cards for deposit requirements on car rentals. American Car Rental does accept check cards. People who are renting with a check card are required to purchase the $500 Deductible Waiver (at $9.99 per day), regardless of the amount of their own personal vehicle deductible or, if they have no coverage of their own that will transfer to the rental vehicle, they will need to purchase the Collision Damage Waiver.
